Ladies Who Network September Round Up

‘Twas the third Thursday of the month and the Ladies Who…Network gathered in the sumptuous Grand Hotel in York. The first lesson of the evening was that no matter how grand the surroundings it’s the service that counts. And after being let down three months in a row with double bookings and last minute room changes, and a service that’s gone from waiter service with nibbles to go get your own. It may be time for Ladies Who…Network to find a new home.

I don’t think any of the ladies that were there that night will be rushing to book their future events at the Grand, which is such a shame as it really it is a beautiful hotel. It just goes to show how one poor customer experience can have an impact on future sales.

We also shared our stories of recent issues in our lives, like issues with technology and computers playing up, having ‘one of those weeks’ where everything goes wrong but on repeat. And it turns out we aren’t all slowly going crazy thinking that the world is against us, the world is actually with us, preparing us for a shift in the Earth’s vibrations to a higher frequency. Change is a necessary part of evolution and September has been a huge month for change for those who are open to it or sensitive to astrological events. What with the blood moon, the Autumn Equinox and Mercury being in retrograde -the planetary aspects are preparing us for the change to come, so don’t panic if your September hasn’t gone to plan.

Stories and storytelling is a big buzz word in marketing at the moment, but it’s not a fad, storytelling has been around for centuries and influences many people in their daily lives, even the bible is a book of stories, when it comes to storytelling and your business how can stories help you generate sales?

Winning Women Tips from the September Meetup

Winning Women is a community of entrepreneurial women who come together to connect with like minded women to collaborate, celebrate and support each other. At the September meet up in York we took the time to get to know a little more about each other and our businesses. Some of these lovely women shared their top tips, so I thought I’d just do a quick round up of tips that I took away from the night.

Think scooters are just for skinheads? Think again, look at this beauty I spotted at the Lincoln custom show, resplendent in shiny pink, a Vespa complete with champagne hamper – now that’s my kind of scooter! Shame the champers is empty though.

My First Travel Trove

It’s fitting that my first Trove is one of my favourite views in the world (so far).

I love this spot just outside Coraralejo on the Island of Fuerteventura in the Canaries. This shot was taken from the ‘Sahara Desert’ style sand dunes Las Dunas de Corralejo (sand actually blows in from the Sahara to form these dunes over time) looking out over the turquoise waters towards the Island of Lobos and its volcano.

Fuerteventura is my favourite island in the Canary archipelago with its white sandy beaches rather than the black volcanic sands found on some of the other islands. The Canary Islands are known for their windy climates and Fuerteventura is no exception (Fuerte=strong, Ventura=Wind) here you can just about see the colourful kite surfing in action, you can also see Lanzarote in the background behind the volcanic peak of Lobos.

A Trove is a travel discovery on Trover – the photo sharing community for travellers.

Happy New Year 2015

2014 is drawing to a close, for some people it has been an awesome year with marriages, proposals, new baby arrivals, new jobs and amazing opportunities. For others it has been the worst year blighted with tragedy, heartbreak and loss. Last year I wished my family and friends love and laughs, health, and happiness for the upcoming year.

But we never know what is round the corner or what the new year will bring.

So this year I am wishing for strength for all my loved ones, the strength to face whatever curve balls 2015 throws at us. The strength to overcome adversity and get through the tough times. But also the strength to enjoy the good times and make the most of time with friends and family.
